Travis “Trey” Leitschuh graduated from Adamsville High School in 1994. He marched in the Adamsville High School Band for eight years. He was also a flag runner from 3rd to 5th grade when his mom Nancy Leitschuh was the color guard sponsor and his dad Travis Leitschuh drove the instrument truck.
He has been married to Jamie Coln Leitschuh, also an A.H.S. alumnus, for 15 years. They have two sons, Jacob, a freshman at A.H.S., who plays baritone, and Samuel, a 6th grader at Michie, who plays trumpet.
Trey has an associate’s degree from Northeast community college in Music Education and an associate’s degree from Northwest Shoals in Science for Paramedical Medicine.
Trey mainly plays low brass instruments and has marched with Southwind Drum and Bugle Corp playing baritone.
He has always enjoyed assisting band camps, especially their marching techniques and low brass ensembles. He has done this at Adamsville High School, McNairy Central, Lexington, and other high schools.
He was instructing at A.H.S. the first time they ever placed in a state championship, creating a wonderful tradition. He has also instructed at Southwind and some other smaller corps.
Frank received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with emphasis in percussion from The University of Tennessee-Martin in 1983. He studied all areas of Percussion performance with Professor Nancy Matheson in her Percussion Studio and Ensembles.
He was hired as Band Director at Adamsville Jr/Sr High School in Adamsville, TN in 1984, with 2012 being his 28th year in public education. He has been nominated and recognized as AHS Teacher of the Year several times, and received many community awards for dedication to his profession, including the McNairy Regional Alliance 2011 Professional Achievement Award.
During his tenure at Adamsville High School, the band has won the Tennessee Division 1 State Marching Band Championship seven times including 1999, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2011,and is consistently named Division or Grand Champion at marching contests throughout Tennessee. The percussion section has won almost 100 caption awards, and recently placed 3rd at the 2012 SCGC Indoor Percussion Championships in their first year of competition.
He has written the musical book and instructed 16 TN State Champion Marching Band Percussion Sections, judged WTSBOA Solo/Ensemble, All West Concert, All West Jazz and TMEA All State Percussion Auditions, and instructed many students that were selected for All-West/All State Bands. He has judged marching festivals and taught camps in TN, KY, MS and GA.
